SIBLINE QUARRY REHABILITATION - PHASE I - PREPARATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT, LANDFILL DESIGN & ASSISTANCE TO SUPERVISION WORKS

Rehabilitation of the non-operational Sibline Quarry Site, in Chouf Caza (Mount Lebanon) and the implementation of a sanitary landfill with an area of 18,000 m² out of a total quarry area of 890,000m². The works included the transfer of leftover inert material (demolition material, bricks, timber, plastics, glass and soil) from the Normandy Landfill and final closure. The landfill was designed to receive inert solid waste material from the Normandy Landfill.

Services Undertaken included

  • Preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment for Sibline Quarry rehabilitation, implementation of a sanitary landfill and waste transfer operations.
  • Identification and analysis of potential negative and positive impact on the environment during the quarry rehabilitation, waste transfer and landfill post closure phases,
  • Setting a water monitoring plan to prevent potential contamination of groundwater.
  • Preparation of detailed design for the Rehabilitation of the Sibline Quarry Site and implementation of a sanitary landfill with the associated lining, drainage, venting and leachate collection systems.
  • Assistance to the Supervision of the Execution of works and Transfer Operations.
