EMERGENCY REPAIR PROGRAMME OF WATER AND ENERGY SUPPLY IN SOUTH LEBANON - PHASE II - LEBANON

The Programme consists on the reparation of Parts of the war-damaged water and sanitation systems in a sustainable way for the regions severely affected by the conflict of July 2006. It concentrate on the immediate improvement of the water systems' operation, mainly through reduction of water losses in the distribution systems, repair of water reservoirs and through the modernization of energy supply systems as appropriate.

The Programme aims on re-instatement and upgrade of the existing water supply systems to its former design capacity, thus improving the level of service for the present demand.

The investment measures might involve primarily the restoration of pumping stations and reservoirs, supply of pipelines and pipe repair material for the distribution network, transport, tools and equipment for rational system operation and maintenance. Repair and restoration works in the energy supply system shall be included in the Programme measures as far as they are necessary and supporting to the water and wastewater systems.
