The project includes the provision of a wastewater collection network and a treatment plant in the area of Hasbaya and surrounding villages, the protection of the local water sources, mainly Hasbani River and Hasbani Spring, against pollution from wastewater discharge and the preparation of recommendations for extending service coverage for the project area communities. The project covers the town of Hasbaya and the villages of Ain Qenia and Chowaya, all located in Hasbaya Caza in Nabatieh Mohafazat. The project is funded by Italian Protocols signed with the Lebanese Government.

Phase I:
The project consists of the preparation of a Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the proposed wastewater project including a sewer network and a treatment plant up to the year 2025 along with a phased implementation program.
Phase II:
Part 1: Review of the Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design
Review of the existing feasibility study
Indentify and Record the existing sanitation infrastructures
Review and Study under preparation in which the infrastructures might overlap with the present project.
Review and updating of the existing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
Prepare a preliminary design with cost estimate of the sewer lines and wastewater treatment plant for the 2 phases.
Part 2: Preparation of Detailed Design and Tender Documents
Prepare a Geotechnical Study for Wastewater Treatment Plant construction area.
Carry out Investigations and data collection as necessary to provide information required for detailed design
Prepare Detailed design and engineering drawings for all facilities.
Prepare Tender Specifications and other Tender Documents for contract packages.
Prepare Operation and maintenance schedules
Refine cost estimates and planning schedules.
