ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR SOUR WASTEWATER PROJECT - Lebanon

Sour Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is considered one of the projects that may cause significant environmental impacts and requires a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The EIA has been prepared to assess potential negative and positive impacts of the three components of the project 1) Collection Network and Pumping Stations, 2) Wastewater Treatment Plant and 3) Sea Outfall that might arise from the Construction works and during the operational period of the project in order to identify possible mitigation measures and monitoring plans.

  • Definition of the existing legal and administrative framework
  • Description of the environment
  • Identification and analysis of the potential environmental impacts
  • Analysis of potential site and technology alternatives
  • Development of environmental management plan including mitigation, monitoring and institutional strengthening
  • Initiation of public participation
