DEVELOPMENT OF GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR TWO PALESTINE REFUGEE CAMPS IN TYRE AREA - Lebanon

The project consists of developing GIS database and base maps for two Palestinian Refugee Camps located in the area of Tyre at around 80 Km to the south of Beirut.

The two Refugee Camps under consideration are: Bourj El Chemali and Rashidiyeh.

The project under consideration is divided into two main  components:

  • Component A: Verifying and Complementing Existing Geographic Data and Preparation of GIS Base Maps
  • Component B: Backstopping for GIS Data Management 

Services undertaken include Development of Geographic Information System (GIS) that include the following:

  • Verifying and complementing existing geographic data supported by field surveys
  • Building the GIS database for the two Refugee Camps
  • Produced GIS base maps
  • Prepared a Geodatabase user manual
  • End Users GIS training session
